Samrat Prithviraj is a Historical Drama film, it has been directed by acclaimed film-maker Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi. It stars superstar Akshay Kumar in and as the legendary King Prithviraj Chauhan. It is based on the life and heroism of the fearless and mighty king who fought valiantly against the merciless Muhammad of Ghor. The ethereally gorgeous Manushi Chhillar debuts in Bollywood in this big screen spectacle and plays the role of Prithviraj’s beloved Princess Sanyogita. On 27 May 2022, the title of the film was changed from Prithviraj to Samrat Prithviraj due to PIL issued by Rajput Karni Sena

Samrat Prithviraj is considered one of the bravest rulers of the Chahamana dynasty and fought against the huge Ghurid army when they tried to invade the country in 1192 CE. Samrat Prithviraj marks the third Akshay Kumar film that will be released in IMAX format. In the past, his period sports drama, Gold (2018), had been released in IMAX. The same year, the sci-fi film, 2.0 (2018), co-starring Rajinikanth, also saw a release in IMAX.
